Week Two Down

This week so phenomenal. It was such a blast having ABF and my brother here. I had missed the students and Chris and Josh. Of the three families I have built houses for this was the deepest connection I have had with a family. The high schoolers worked so well that we were ahead of schedule all week. Wednesday we worked slow and took extra time to converse with the family. Ariel (the father) shared his testimony when we were working on the vent framing together. We talked a lot this week.

On Thursday we were supposed to dedicate at 11am but the family was late because they were making us lunch. The media team had to leave and go to another house and then come back which was totally a God thing. We got a whole extra hour with the family just standing around visiting and talking. Then we dedicated the house and gave them the keys to their first home in Ensenada. We were holding together ok until the sweet 7 year old Axel started sobbing and then we all lost it. He hadst enjoyed playing with Maria, Matt, and Zion that he was beside himself. After the dedication we shared a meal together which was sweet and then the boys all played a game of fútbol. When we left there were many hugs and tears. I will be thinking about and praying for that sweet family for a long time.

This morning the ABFers left. It was bitter sweet. I so loved having them here and I will miss them a lot. At the same time it was hard to split time with them and with the other interns and juggle my responsibilities so it will nice to be undivided in my attention. I loved getting to see those students coming out of their bubbles and get dirty and serve and love on that family. I am praying that they bring back some of that attitude to daily life.

Today during staff lunch I had been asked to share 10 mins of my testimony. It was sweet to prepare and reflect on that. I had not thought about it for at least a year. The theme the Lord impressed on me was His sovereignty. Looking back it is abundantly clear to me how in so many times and ways He has orchestrated little opportunities for me to be faithful in which have had such long lasting domino effects in my life. The reason I ever found out about YUGO was because I went to some weird choir concert (Agape Homecoming) at a small church in Old Agoura. As much as I love planning and knowing what's coming, I continue to see Him revealing my immediate next step and an overall call to ministry and faithfulness and relationship with Him and all that middle is on faith.

So excited the summer is still just getting started. So grateful for this amazing opportunity and these people. Very glad to rest a little this weekend after 14 days without a day off.

Our eighth intern joins us Sunday which will hopefully be a smooth transition.
