Time is Flying; Big Week Coming
Man time is flying. It is unbelievable that we are more than halfway done with our summer here. This week was super sweet. It was a medium size group of individuals and family with one church group. A number of the interns families were here which was super fun. I definitely missed my family but it was sweet to have time to get to know my teammates parents. I built with the ome church group. They were from CA (in San Diego) and it was myself and Jemma (the volunteer from Stockton) with them so it was fun to be Cali folks. It was a great week construction wise and relationally with them just hanging out in traffic and having fun while working hard on the build.
The week was also pretty tough. There were some job site frustrations and I continue to realize that even when I think I’ve learned how to do a part of the house there is more to learn. In addition to that I was feeling very drained and missing the fam. Wednesday was a sweet provision from God having our “first Wednesday worship night” with Yugo church. It was exactly what a lot of us needed. God was totally comforting and providing for me in that and it was sweet to just recenter and focus. Thursdays dedication as usual brought tears to my eyes.
Friday we did a lot of prep for our upcoming big week. We are about to have 220 people ok campus for the biggest week in Yugo history. We are stoked but very apprehensive. Please be praying for us this week.
Friday night for our outreach we made hot dogs and went to a women’s rehab center with their kids. We led two songs and ate with them. Then afterwards I narrated the story of Daniel’s 3 friends in the fiery furnace. (There were some really difficult Spanish words in the story but I made it through).
Today was a lovely rest day between our weeks. We watched a movie, went shopping, went for a run and had dinner with Cheko and Julie.
I’m continually grateful to be spending this summer with such an awesome group of people. It’s so phenomenal. God has big things still to do and we’re ready to be a part of it.
What an encouragement the body is. I am so grateful to God for that sweet sweet gift. Can’t wait to see you again soon.
