Last week.... :(
Last week was a trip. Saturday we went to the waterpark with my family. It was so sweet seeing my mom getting one on one time with each of the interns and Osmar. Then we left and drove home with a stop at Portillos of course. We got home around 11pm and I had to unpack, repack and get ready for Hume. Sunday morning I left for church to go spend the week with junior highers. It was so heartbreaking to leave my Mexico family for the week. I missed them so much and it was bizarre to be experiencing that alone before everyone will when we leave.
The week at Hume was awesome. I functioned as the Junior High youth pastor with an amazing team of 5 leaders. We had 29 students under our care out of the 500 junior highers and 1,000 high schoolers at Hume that week. I had a cabin of four 6th graders and three 8th graders. The week went by without any drama aside from some homesickness and a couple trips to the infirmary. I did not really rest much but it was so good to connect with the kids. I definitely missed them. I know it was huge to connect with those new 6th graders for this coming school year as well as get to see the impact of the spiritual kickstart for all the kids.
Saturday night I got home at 9pm with time to unpack, repack, and sleep before leaving for Mexico again. Sunday morning my parents dropped me off of the 5 to ride down with the Georgeson family back to YUGO. We had a great car ride. We rolled up at 4pm and all the interns came running out to hug me. It was a wonderful homecoming. It was amazing to be back for Sunday night chapel and see all my friends here. Now I'm back and we have one final week. I get to work with Ben this week as my foreman which is so hype. We are all praying for preparation for a smooth transition as well as some really sweet final week memories. This has been the best summer. I am so grateful.
Last night was the last Sunday chapel, today was the last Monday construction day. So many lasts.... but as Scott Wester said to me last night, "I'm sure you'll be back in the future in some capacity"
