Translating and Trucking Along

This week was very different. On Sunday night, after meeting our family and team, I got pulled aside by Osmar. He told me they needed another translator and I was being pulled to a basketball camp for translation. After I found out, I told the other interns and Grace reminded me that I had literally said that morning how cool it would be translate sometime. God was clearly listening.

Monday morning, I went with Osmar and Abi to buy the basketball hoops. We had a really sweet time visiting in the car and it was a total answer to prayer. I got to ride with them everyday and we had a lot of talks (mostly in Spanish since Abi doesn’t speak much English at all). They are such a sweet couple and I love being with them. It was weird to be working with kids all week in the sun. It was not the same tired as the construction site but still just as (if not more) tiring. There was no break from the beating son, and there was a lot of running and yelling in English and Spanish. The team I was working with was super cool and I had a good time connecting with them. I loved being with the kids and loving on them. They were so happy and competitive. On Wednesday, I got the chance to translate the Bible lesson to the kids from Ray. I was glad I had a couple days to be immersed in translating and after the lesson Joceline (a native translator) told me I had really impressed her and gave me an A+ for the day). Translating was definitely stretching but so cool how God has prepared me and gifted me with the ability to learn.

The interns had some really great convos in the evenings talking about life, and church and family. I am so grateful for the connections I have had with them. It is crazy to think that we have already been here for a month. Time has flown and I am loving it so much. Checko asked me earlier in the week to lead worship at staff meeting which was cool. I asked Grace to join me and that was super cool cause she was actually gonna share her testimony in the meeting too. She picked a song that set that up and I picked the intro song. We led in Spanish and English back and forth like we usually do for staff meeting and church and it was super great. Grace’s testimony was such a meaningful encouragement and reminder. This Friday was “Fun Activity” so we had a 50’s night and dressed up to go bowling and to a diner. It was a blast to just relax and chill after a long and busy week. Today we chilled most the day until dinner at the Willifords and Canada Day/4th of July celebration on the beach tonight. We were all a little tired this week so the rest was very needed. This coming week is friends and family week, which will be fun to hang with some of the interns family and friends.

(Pictures are on the photos page, and I have also added a page for videos that YUGO produces each week which are cool. I pop up in almost all of the ones I included).
